Candor's ancient gods are returning.
Thirsty for blood and hungry for revenge they are bound only by
The Keeper of the Keys.

Seam Panderean reigns supreme both as High King and Keeper,
ruling over Candor with fear and an iron fist.
All will serve him or die.

Grift Shepherd, Willyn Kara, and Wael the Mastermonk are locked in a race against time. Seam's Dominion will soon be unchecked, unlocking all the Serub gods.

Candor's only hope lies in fueling the resistance that is kindling against the High King. The mirrors hidden across the Continent must be found and destroyed.

The Five are returning. The Five will soon reign.

Sea of Souls Keys of Candor eBook Casey Eanes Seth Ervin

Sea of Souls has definitely been an engaging read. I found it hard to get into the story within the first 5 or so chapters but that could be due to how long it had been since I read the Red Deaths (book 1).

Halfway through, I realized something kept nagging me about the plight of the Reds versus the Dominion. I can't quite nail it down but after reading a blog article by one of the authors, I am fearful of the possible social content in book 3, or at least the manner in which it would be represented. But I refuse to put something on a series I have enjoyed without reading it first.

All characters have generally been fleshed out and you can feel their pains, burdens and sins. I would say joys but you won't find much throughout this story as it plays out like an apocalyptic event. I won't say it's void of hope but I think one would find more hope with an eternal perspective in situations like this as opposed to believing our deaths are the end of existence.

Seam is definitely a man afflicted with evil desires but I have been intrigued by his handling of the Serubs. The Serubs are evil, he is evil but he refuses to let them use him. They are definitely in need of being reigned in but there allowance to be monsters while also supplying them with their methods of mayhem are not something to admire in Seam.

I look forward to book 3.

A great book from an awesome writer i met at a convention, its well worth every dollar and i cant wait for the next book to come out
Just like with Keys of Candor - Sea of Souls pulls you in and leaves you wanting more! I cannot wait till book three!
Eanes and Ervin have done it again only better! The characters somehow have an extra dimension that make you love, or hate, them even more. As good as the 1st installment was, I feel like this was a deeper more emotional journey. Can't wait for book three!
I really loved the second book in the series. The first was quite good and the second cemented the series as excellent. I love the well developed and complex characters and the sense of hope that pervades the book despite many difficult times for the characters.
And the twists just keep on comin! If you're a fan of sci-fi adventure, buying this trilogy is a no-brainer. I loved this book just as much as the first installment (The Red Deaths). The characters are so well-crafted, the plot full of imagination, and the adventure non-stop. Can't wait to see what these two authors bring us in the final book. I have no doubt it will be unexpected and fully entertaining -- plus all the well-written fight scenes. Who doesn't love that?
The first book of the series, Keys of Candor, was fantastic, but this might have stepped the game up a notch. Plot twists, new settings, new characters, new evils-- it was all great! Very well written; I find myself with a great image in my mind throughout the book; I also found it hard to put down! I would definitley recommend this book to anyone (I think it would be interesting to any age-- I think we all could relate to the different perspectives in one manner or another). From grand battles to intimate conversations to silent prayers-- this book has a little bit of everything. I am 17 years old and loved it. My brother is 13 and loved it just the same. It's a good book if it can appeal to a 17 year old and a 13 year old just the same. Grab a copy!
I've struggled for a good long time on writing a review to this book because I wanted to do it justice. I wanted to write on the general theme of what you would get into and why you should go head and buy both books. All the while not giving away any spoilers.

For a long time I thought this series, and I am writing as someone who has read both books, was like Lord of the Rings. But that never sat very well for me. It seemed at first like LoTR, because it did have a bit of a slower, more nostalgic start. But then things get rolling and rolling fast. All of a sudden something small turns into something more intricate and fast passed. The magnitude of the situation grows and grows close to exponentially close to a major poo storm. It leaps back and forth between despair and hope, rising up higher at each jump.

Go ahead and buy both books because as soon as you put one book down you will want to have the second, and expectantly the third book. Once things get rolling the book has plot twists and turns that are both surprising and logical once revealed. As well as the overall mood of the book, the character development is also building rapidly. You get a deeper and more empathetic look into all of the main characters as the book moves forward. I related all of this aspect to the charter development of Star Wars. This is why the LoTR association didn't fit.

After reading book books, and looking forward to the third with great anticipation, I realized that this Keys of Candor series has created was a universe that was ripe for expanded lore because of it's pull from ancient events created so much of what was currently being played out. After spending a lot of time thinking about the story line, character development, and depth of lore creation, I realized something. I realized that I was excited about this series because of it's over all potential and because it created something new and unique while blending in the nostalgia of two great icons.

In short, something that you will enjoy reading and look forward for something else in the future with anticipation because it got you excited and connected to something.
