Not to mention the fact that you will fall in love with all of the characters. I loved this book and read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down! Kate Winters is a writer with writer's block. She is a romantic at heart but, will she listen to her heart and risk it being broken? Sheriff Lee Foxx is a player who can have and does have any woman, straight or gay, that she wants. Has she met her match in Kate or is her past too much fun to give up? Then there is Brenda...Kate's best friend. Brenda and her group of eccentric friends/artists can see what the other two are trying to fight. Not to mention Robin, Kate's girlfriend that she in Dallas. Got to love the surprises that come along with her. Can love conquer all? This book is like all of Gerri's...in a very good way of course! It has a great story, wonderful characters, full of humor, true friendship, love, lust, and we can't forget great sex! This book will stay in my collection to read again! As always I look forward to her next book!

There are moments in this tale of awakening for the protagonists that had me laughing, crying and just riveted to each line! Gerri has become one of my must haves!
As usual, Gerri Hill skillfully gives us an in-depth understanding of her characters. Both Kate Winters, an author suffering from writer's block, and Lee Foxx, the local sheriff, are partially damaged human beings, and therefore all the more lovable. The reader gets to observe Kate and Lee grapple with their own hangups and their feelings for each other against a backdrop of the gorgeous high desert of New Mexico.

The author's descriptions of the area are superb. I felt like I was right there with them. The secondary characters, a unique bunch to say the least, are vividly portrayed. The only thing missing is the action/adventure of the type shown in "Hunter's Way" and "The Killing Room." I would love to see a lot more of that. I stayed up way past my bedtime and read this book in one sitting. Gerri Hill's writing always has that effect on me.

Perfect beach read with lot's of laughs.

The cast of characters are laugh out loud funny.

City girl Kate is completely lost at home and in her writing career. Meeting Sheriff Foxx (the town player) is the best thing that ever happened to her.

The Wild ride they take to love is all good! Interesting Foxx - Kate - Robin triangle.

The best parts for me were the humor and the locale. Excellent writing.

Gerri Hill creates believable, interesting characters. Set in the stunning canyons outside Santa Fe, Hill weaves a tale for her two main characters that has them responding to the extraordinary beauty of the land in which they reside. Very funny, and great dialogue, I had to read this in one hit and am sad to leave the characters she has created. Even the secondary characters have a charm which suits the location. Jump in. I highly recommend it!
Sheriff Lee Fox doesn't know what hit her when she falls in love for the first time. She is so use to her love um and leave um routine that where tread water carefully when she fall for Author Winter who has had her own line of romantic failures.Together they have to find love without knowing that that is what both of them need and are looking for. It is a wonderful love story told as only Gerri Hill can tell a story with her romantic lesbian fiction done better than almost anyone including Radclyffe. She is Awesome. And makes you want to read every story she has written which I advice you do.
I'm not big on the idea of one night stands. However it's great to see how Lee (just turning 30) changes from the county sheriff who can and does have any woman she wants to not knowing what is going on with herself. Why? Cause almost 38 Kate enters her life. Writer Kate is busy convincing herself she's in a happy relationship with her live-in girlfriend Robin. It seems Kate and Lee are sharing a dance. One neither realizes they are on or where it will lead. Through the help of eccentric friends, they both continue on a journey. Can they really not fight their destiny? Read and find out. Well written and full of humor and romance.
